Friends don't let their product managers use bad reality distortion. Steve Jobs had a famous reality distortion field — a rare gift for convincing people they could do things they didn't believe were possible. It gave us the iPhone and the iPad. Most product managers have a different kind of reality distortion. They genuinely believe they spec nothing but winners. The data says otherwise: 8 out of 10 features fail. Humans are just bad at predicting what users will actually do. Even brilliant, experienced PMs get it wrong most of the time. The fix isn't better intuition. It's rigorous A/B testing — so you stop shipping losers, turn some of those losers into winners, and double your win rate over time. Not testing yet? Start for free with GrowthBook
