Nobody should bench press 300 pounds their first day in the gym. The reason is obvious. Yet I see companies do it with experimentation all the time. They decide to run thousands of tests, across the whole organization, before anyone has built the muscle for it. That is how experimentation programs gets set up to fail. Thousands of experiments a year is where a good program ends up. Teams that get there built up to it. They started with one team running a couple of tests. Once people see the value of their experiments, in measuring results, and sharing what works and what doesn't, the programs expand. Muscles about how to run tests well get stronger. You might notice cultural issues that you didn't expect when you share results. These need to be addressed before you can expand. DM me if you want help building the experimentation muscle.
